Plumbing Fixture Work That Holds Up

Fixture installation covers everything from a straightforward toilet swap to a full bathroom build-out with new tub, shower, and faucet connections. If you're wondering what a plumber actually handles in this category, the short answer is: all of it. Marvin Guida, owner of Summit Peak Plumbing LLC, holds Colorado Master Plumber license #MP.03001524 and has spent 25 years installing and repairing fixtures in homes across the Front Range. He's not dispatching a crew member. He's the one who shows up. Call (719) 774-7451 to schedule.

What drives cost on fixture work? The fixture itself, the condition of the existing supply and drain connections, whether shutoff valves need replacing, and how much access there is behind the wall. A basic faucet swap is a short visit. A shower installation that involves moving supply lines or adding a mixing valve is a bigger scope. We'll walk you through what's involved before any work starts so there are no surprises. Every job is different, contact Summit Peak Plumbing LLC for an accurate estimate.

Fixtures We Install and Repair Install

One call covers the full range of residential fixture work.

01

Toilet Installation

New toilet going in, or an old one finally giving out? We handle removal, wax ring, supply line, and shutoff valve, and we verify there are no leaks before we leave. See our full toilet installation service for details.

02

Toilet Repair

Running toilet, cracked tank, weak flush, phantom cycling. Most toilet problems don't require a full replacement. Marvin will tell you honestly which parts need replacing and whether a new fixture makes more sense long-term. See our toilet repair page.

03

Faucet Installation

Kitchen or bathroom, single-handle or three-hole, standard or pull-down. We verify your existing supply lines and shutoff valves before connecting anything new. Calcium buildup on older valves is common in this region's hard water, and we address it rather than working around it.

04

Shower Installation

Shower installation ranges from a drop-in unit to a full tiled build with a mixing valve and separate volume control. We set the supply connections, install the valve body, and pressure-test the system. What we won't do is hand you a finished shower with an untested valve.

05

Sink Installation

Undermount, drop-in, or pedestal. New sink installs involve making sure the P-trap alignment is correct and the supply connections won't drip into the cabinet six months later. We've fixed enough of those to take it seriously.

06

Tub Installation and Drain Work

Tub installation is one of the more involved fixture jobs because access for drain rough-in is often tight. Marvin's worked in confined spaces, drop ceilings, crawl spaces, slab-adjacent walls, and he'll tell you upfront if your situation adds scope. Tub drain issues have their own page at tub drain repair.

Our Approach

What Marvin Checks Before Any Fixture Goes In Checks

toilet installation work, professional service in Colorado Springs, CO
A lot of fixture problems that show up six months after installation trace back to what got skipped before the fixture went in. Corroded shutoff valves that weren't replaced. Supply lines that were reused when they should have been swapped. A drain connection that wasn't fully seated. Marvin's 25-year background means he's seen how those shortcuts play out. Before any fixture is connected, he checks the condition of the existing shutoff valves, inspects the supply lines, and confirms the drain configuration matches what the new fixture requires. In the Front Range, hard water accelerates corrosion on valves and aerators. It's not unusual to find a shutoff valve that hasn't been turned in a decade and won't fully close. That gets addressed before the new fixture ever gets touched. If something upstream needs attention, we tell you. We don't patch around a problem and let you discover it after we've left.

Our Process

How a Fixture Installation Goes

Three steps, no mystery about what happens at each one.

  1. 01

    Call and Describe the Job

Tell Marvin what fixture you're replacing or adding, and whether it's a straightforward swap or part of a larger remodel. He'll let you know what to expect and schedule a visit that works for you, including Saturdays and Sundays.

  2. 02

    On-Site Assessment and Prep

Before any fixture is touched, Marvin inspects the existing connections, shutoff valves, and drain configuration. If something needs attention first, you'll hear about it. No surprises mid-job.

  3. 03

    Installation and Pressure Test

The fixture goes in, connections are made, and the system is pressure-tested under full working pressure before the job is called complete. We don't consider it done until we've confirmed there are no drips at any connection point.

Why This Work Needs a Licensed Plumber

  1. 01

    Code Compliance

Colorado requires licensed plumbers for fixture work that involves the water supply or drain-waste-vent system. Marvin holds CO license #MP.03001524. Work done by an unlicensed contractor can create problems when you sell the home or file an insurance claim.

  2. 02

    Leak Prevention

A slow drip at a supply connection inside a cabinet can go undetected for months. By the time it's found, you're looking at damaged cabinetry, subfloor issues, and possibly mold. Proper torque, correct tape application, and a real pressure test prevent that outcome.

  3. 03

    Hard Water Compatibility

The Front Range has some of the hardest municipal water in the state. Certain fixture materials and aerator designs hold up far better than others in high-mineral water. Marvin can tell you which fixtures are worth the investment and which ones will be a maintenance headache in two years.

Remodel Stage or Single Replacement, Both Work

faucet installation work, professional service in Colorado Springs, CO
Some customers call because a toilet is leaking or a faucet finally gave out. Others are mid-remodel and need the plumbing side handled while their contractor handles tile and drywall. Both situations are straightforward for us. For remodel-stage work, coordination matters. We work with your schedule and your contractor's timeline so the rough-in and fixture installation happen in the right sequence. For single replacements, we're open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. We serve residential and commercial plumbing clients across the area. If you're working on a larger project and need permits pulled alongside the fixture work, see our plumbing permits page for details on how that process works.

Fixture Installation: Common Questions

What's the difference between a fixture repair and a full fixture replacement?
Repair makes sense when the fixture body is sound and only internal components have failed, a worn flapper, a cracked cartridge, a corroded aerator. Replacement makes sense when the fixture itself is cracked, leaking from the base, or simply at end of life. Marvin will tell you which option actually applies to your situation.
Do shutoff valves usually need to be replaced during a fixture installation?
In older homes, yes, more often than you'd think. Shutoff valves that haven't been operated in years can fail to fully close, which makes working on the fixture safely much harder. The Front Range's hard water also accelerates mineral buildup inside valves. If Marvin finds a shutoff that won't close properly, he'll tell you before proceeding. Replacing it during the same visit is usually the right call.
Can a toilet installation cause drain problems if the rough-in measurement is wrong?
It can, and this is one of the most common fixture mistakes in older homes. The rough-in distance, from the finished wall to the center of the drain flange, needs to match the toilet's specification. The two most common sizes are 10-inch and 12-inch rough-ins. Installing a 12-inch toilet on a 10-inch rough-in means the tank will hit the wall or the fixture won't seat correctly. Marvin measures before ordering or installing anything.
How long does a typical faucet installation take?
A straightforward kitchen or bathroom faucet swap, same hole configuration, working shutoff valves, accessible supply lines, usually takes one to two hours. Time goes up if shutoff valves need replacing, if supply lines are corroded, or if the faucet requires a different hole configuration than what's currently in the sink. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we assess the job.
What should I do before Marvin arrives for a fixture installation?
Clear out the cabinet under the sink if it's a faucet job, or give us clear access to the toilet area. You don't need to shut off the water yourself, Marvin will handle that on arrival. If you have the new fixture already purchased, have the model number or box available so he can confirm the spec before installation begins. If you haven't purchased the fixture yet, he can advise on what to look for given your existing rough-in and supply configuration.
Does fixture installation require a permit in Colorado?
For a like-for-like fixture replacement, same location, same drain and supply configuration, a permit is typically not required. Work that involves moving supply lines, adding new drain connections, or altering the DWV system generally does require a permit. Marvin will flag permit requirements before work starts. See our plumbing permits page for more detail on how that process works.
